RF PSA 57:1 To his Bandmaster.
Written by David, on his Flight from the Presence of Saul, in the Cave.
STANZA 1.
O, pity me, pity me GOD,
For my soul has reliance on You;
I will trust in Your canopy's shade,
Until my distressers have passed.—
RF PSA 57:2 I call to my GOD, the Most High,
To the GOD, who has laboured for me,
RF PSA 57:3 Who sent from the Heavens and saved,
And the Ruffians in power restrained,
When GOD sent His mercy and truth.
RF PSA 57:4 STANZA 2.
My life is laid down among lions;—
The furious children of men,
With arrows and spears for their teeth,
And their tongue is a glittering sword.
RF PSA 57:5 STANZA 3.
GOD whose grandeur is over the Heavens,
Your glory above all the earth;—
RF PSA 57:6 They spread out a net for my feet.
Dug pitfalls to capture my life;
But they have sunk into their pit!
RF PSA 57:7 STANZA 4
My heart rests, O My GOD, my heart rests
So I sing You in songs, and in Psalms.—
RF PSA 57:8 Arise up my pride! arise harp and lute!—
I will rise up myself with the dawn,
RF PSA 57:9 And proclaim You, ALMIGHTY, to Nations,
To People sing of You in Psalms;
RF PSA 57:10 For Your Mercy is high as the skies,
And Your Truthfulness reaches the clouds;
RF PSA 57:11 GOD, Your grandeur is over the Heavens,
And Your Glory above all the Earth
