RF PSA 74:1 A Reflection.
STANZA 1.
Why, GOD, would You cast off for ever?
Fierce in wrath at the sheep of Your flock?
RF PSA 74:2 Remember the flock You acquired of old,
And redeem Your inherited farm,—
This Mount Zion, where You have dwelt.
RF PSA 74:3 STANZA 2.
Lift Your feet to the old desolations;
See the wrong your foes did to the Good;
RF PSA 74:4 For the Outragers shout in the midst of Your Court,
And they plant there, their standards for signs!
RF PSA 74:5 STANZA 3.
They seemed as they came to the stairs
Like fellers against a thick wood;—
RF PSA 74:6 And her beautiful Gate-ways at once,
They beat down with hammer and axe!
RF PSA 74:7 Your sacreds they cast to the fire,
Flung the Tent of Your NAME to the ground!
RF PSA 74:8 Their heart said, "We'll drive out at once,
We'll burn all GOD'S Courts in the land!"
RF PSA 74:9 STANZA 4.
No signs are shown to us,—no preacher is left!
And with us none can tell for how long!
RF PSA 74:10 Till when, GOD, shall the tyrant insult!
And Your NAME always cursed by the foe?
RF PSA 74:11 Till when, will You fold up your hands,
And Your right in your bosom conceal?
RF PSA 74:12 STANZA 5.
Yet GOD was our King from of old,
Made us safe on the breast of the earth,
RF PSA 74:13 You smashed by Your strength at the Sea,
The Dragon's head broke at the Flood,
RF PSA 74:14 You shattered Leviathan's Chiefs,
And gave them to feed the Wild beasts,
RF PSA 74:15 And You opened fountains and brooks,
And You Mighty Rivers dried up
RF PSA 74:16 STANZA 6.
From You is the day, and from You is the night,
You established both Moon and the Sun;
RF PSA 74:17 You fixed all the bounds of the earth,
And Spring-time and Autumn you formed,
RF PSA 74:18 LORD, remember the enemies' scorn,
The vile rabble who jeer at Your NAME!
RF PSA 74:19 O Give not Your Dove's life to such Kites,
Nor for ever abandon Your poor!
RF PSA 74:20 O Attend, and accomplish Your bond,
Crime dwells in dark dens of the land;
RF PSA 74:21 But let not the poor be oppressed,
Then the wretched will sing to Your NAME.
RF PSA 74:22 STANZA 7.
Arise, GOD! enforce Your decree,
Think of insults fools give You each day;
RF PSA 74:23 Forget not the voice of Your foes,
The roar they continually raise.
