RF JOB 5:1 Call now! Who will answer to you?
And to whom of the saints will you turn?
RF JOB 5:2 For the fool by vexation is slain,
And the silly is killed by his rage.
RF JOB 5:3 I have looked on the vile taking root.
But I marked out his home for a crash!
RF JOB 5:4 His children are far from secure,
They fail in the gate without help.
RF JOB 5:5 Their harvests the famished will eat,
And the parched seize their coolers of snow,
And the hungry will swallow their wealth!
RF JOB 5:6 No, affliction springs not from the dust,
Nor does grief grow up out of the ground;
RF JOB 5:7 But man himself causes his grief,
As the children of flame fly upright!
RF JOB 5:8 For myself I should cry out to God,
To the Almighty present my address,
RF JOB 5:9 Who does great and unsearchable things,
And wonders unnumbered are His!
RF JOB 5:10 Who gives rain to the mouth of the earth,
Sends the brooks on the face of the meads;
RF JOB 5:11 Who raises the lowly on high,
And saves the depressed by His power;
RF JOB 5:12 Who frustrates the plans of the rogues
So their hands cannot work out their wish;
RF JOB 5:13 Who captures the skilled by their craft,
And baffles their villainous schemes,
RF JOB 5:14 So that darkness o'ershadows their day,
And at noontide they grope as at night;
RF JOB 5:15 Thus He rescues the weak from their mouth,
And the wretched from clutch of their hand!
RF JOB 5:16 So therefore the weak have a hope,
And Iniquity closes her mouth!
RF JOB 5:17 But blest is the man God corrects!
So despise not th' Almighty's reproof!
RF JOB 5:18 For He grieves us, and He can console;
He breaks us, but His hand can heal;
RF JOB 5:19 He will save you six times from distress,
And in seven the woe will not touch;
RF JOB 5:20 In famine will free you from death,
And in war from the hand of the sword
RF JOB 5:21 He will hide from the lash of the tongue,—
Yes, unmoved at Destruction's approach,
RF JOB 5:22 You can laugh at Destruction and death,
And fear not the beast of the field.
RF JOB 5:23 With the stones on the plain you make league
While the beasts of the field are your friends,
RF JOB 5:24 And you know that your tent is secure,
And muster your folds, and miss none.
RF JOB 5:25 You will know that your seeds will increase
And grow like the grass from the ground!
RF JOB 5:26 You will go in old age to the tomb,
As the corn-stacks piled at its time.
RF JOB 5:27 These we have proved—they are sure!
Attend! And instruct your own yourself!
