RF LUK 18:1 The Unjust Judge.
He also showed them, by means of a parable, that they ought to persist in prayer, without becoming weary.
RF LUK 18:2 "There was in a town," He said, "a judge, who neither feared God, nor respected man.
RF LUK 18:3 And in the same town there was a widow, who kept coming to Him, pleading, 'Give me justice against my adversary.'
RF LUK 18:4 He refused, however, for some time. But afterwards he argued thus with himself: Although I neither fear God, nor care for man,
RF LUK 18:5 yet, because this widow gives me trouble, I will grant her justice; for if I do not, she will distract me at last by her coming.'
RF LUK 18:6 "Mark now," said the Master, "what the unjust judge determined.
RF LUK 18:7 And will not God grant justice to His chosen, who cry to Him day and night, and have pity upon them?
RF LUK 18:8 He will, I tell you, grant them justice very quickly. When the Son of Man comes, however, will He find this faith upon the earth?"
RF LUK 18:9 The Pharisee and the Tax-Farmer at Prayer.
He then addressed this parable to some who were confident of their own righteousness, and despised the rest:
RF LUK 18:10 "Two men went up to the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-farmer.
RF LUK 18:11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: 'O God, I thank Thee that I am not like the rest of mankind—greedy, unjust, profligate; nor even like this tax-farmer.
RF LUK 18:12 I fast twice a week; I tithe all that I possess!'
RF LUK 18:13 But the tax-farmer, standing at a distance, did not dare even to raise his eyes to heaven; but merely struck his breast, exclaiming, 'O God, be merciful to me, the sinner!'
RF LUK 18:14 "This man, I tell you, returned home more righteous than the other; for every one exalting himself shall be humbled, but the one who humbles himself shall be exalted."
RF LUK 18:15 Jesus and Little Children.
And they were also bringing to Him their babes, in order that He might touch them; but the disciples, on seeing it, prevented them—
RF LUK 18:16 But Jesus hailed them to Him, saying, "Allow the little children to come to Me, and hinder them not; for of such consists the Kingdom of God.
RF LUK 18:17 I tell you indeed, that if any one does not accept the Kingdom of God like a little child, he can by no means enter it."
RF LUK 18:18 The Barrier of Wealth.
One of the nobles then asked Him, "Beneficent Teacher, what shall I do in order to secure everlasting life?"
RF LUK 18:19 "Why do you call Me beneficent?" said Jesus in reply; "One alone is beneficent—God Himself.
RF LUK 18:20 You know the commands: DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY; DO NOT MURDER; DO NOT STEAL; DO NOT COMMIT PERJURY; HONOUR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER."2
RF LUK 18:21 "All these I have observed from my youth," was his answer.
RF LUK 18:22 Jesus, hearing this, said to him, "You are only deficient in one respect: sell all that you possess, and distribute to the poor; and you shall have wealth in heaven. Then return, and become My follower."
RF LUK 18:23 On hearing this, however, he became depressed; for he was exceedingly rich.
RF LUK 18:24 And Jesus, observing him turning sad, remarked, "With what difficulty can those possessing wealth enter the Kingdom of God!
RF LUK 18:25 It is easier, indeed, for a camel to pass through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God!"

2. Exod. 20:12-16
RF LUK 18:26 "Who then can be saved?" asked the bystanders.
RF LUK 18:27 "The impossible with men," He replied, "is the possible with God."
RF LUK 18:28 "Why," observed Peter, "we have left everything, and followed You."
RF LUK 18:29 "I tell you indeed," was His reply, "there is not one who shall have forsaken home, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, on account of the Kingdom of God,
RF LUK 18:30 who will not receive in return much more in the present time, and in the age to come everlasting life."
RF LUK 18:31 Jesus Foretells his Death and Resurrection.
Then conversing aside with the twelve, He said to them: "We are now going up to Jerusalem; and all that has been written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished.
RF LUK 18:32 For He will be handed over to the heathen, and will be ridiculed, assaulted, spit upon;
RF LUK 18:33 and having flogged, they will murder Him; but upon the third day He will rise again,"
RF LUK 18:34 They understood nothing of this, however; for the thought was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend its meaning.
RF LUK 18:35 The Blind Beggar.
As He was approaching Jericho, a blind man who sat at the roadside begging,
RF LUK 18:36 on hearing the passing crowd, inquired what it meant.
RF LUK 18:37 They accordingly told-him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by;
RF LUK 18:38 upon which he at once shouted out, exclaiming, "Jesus, Son of David, pity me!"
RF LUK 18:39 And those going on before ordered him to keep silent; but he merely shouted out the louder, "Jesus, Son of David, pity me!"
RF LUK 18:40 Then Jesus, stopping, commanded the man to be brought to Him; and when he came near, He asked him,
RF LUK 18:41 "What do you wish Me to do for you?"
"Master, was his reply, "that I may recover my eyesight!"
RF LUK 18:42 "Recover your eyesight," said Jesus to him; "your faith has saved you."
RF LUK 18:43 And regaining his eyesight immediately, he followed Him, praising God. And all the people, on seeing it, gave thanks to God.
