RF JO1 2:1 My little children, I write this to you, in order that you may not sin. And if any one should sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.
RF JO1 2:2 And He is an offering for our sins; and not for ours alone, but also for all the world.
RF JO1 2:3 And by this we recognize that we know Him, if we observe His commands.
RF JO1 2:4 Whoever says, "I know Him," and fails to observe His commands, is a liar, and the Truth is not in him.
RF JO1 2:5 But whoever observes His message, the love of God is undoubtedly perfected in him. By this we recognize that we are in Him.
RF JO1 2:6 Whoever says that he remains in Him, ought to conduct himself in the same way as he conducted Himself.
RF JO1 2:7 Dear friends, I write to you no new command; but on the contrary, an old command, the same which you possessed from, the beginning. The old command is the message which you learned.
RF JO1 2:8 Again, I write you a new command, which is true in itself and also in you; because the darkness is clearing away, and the true Light already shines.
RF JO1 2:9 Whoever, therefore, says he is in the Light, yet hates his brother, is even until now in the darkness.
RF JO1 2:10 Whoever loves his brother, dwells in the Light; and there is no stumbling-block in him.
RF JO1 2:11 Whoever hates his brother, however, is in the darkness; he walks in the dark, and knows not where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
RF JO1 2:12 I write to you, little children, because your sins are expelled through His Name.
RF JO1 2:13 I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have conquered the Wicked One. I have written to you, youths, because you know the Father.
RF JO1 2:14 I have written to you, fathers, because you have recognized Him from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong; and the message of God rests in you, and you have conquered the Wicked One.
RF JO1 2:15 Cherish neither the world, nor yet what is in the world. If any one cherishes the world, the affection of the Father is not in him;
RF JO1 2:16 because all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—are not from the Father, but they are from the world.
RF JO1 2:17 The world passes away, and its lusts; but he who works out the purpose of God continues for ever.
RF JO1 2:18 Youths, it is the last period; and, as you have learned that Antichrist would come—and already many antichrists have come—we consequently know that it is the last period.
RF JO1 2:19 They went out from among us, but they did not belong to us; because if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. They left, however, in order that it might be evident that so they were not connected with us.
RF JO1 2:20 But you hold a sacred appointment from the Holy One. You know all.
RF JO1 2:21 I have not written to you because you are ignorant of the truth; but because you do know it, and because nothing false can proceed from the truth.
RF JO1 2:22 Who is the liar, if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Messiah? He is the antagonist of Christ who denies the Father and the Son.
RF JO1 2:23 Whoever denies the Son, never has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son, possesses the Father also.
RF JO1 2:24 You, continue in what you learned from the beginning. If what you learned from the first remains with you, you will continue in union with the Son, and in union with the Father.
RF JO1 2:25 And this is the promise which He promised to us, the Life Eternal.
RF JO1 2:26 I have written this to you on account of those who would mislead you.
RF JO1 2:27 And as for you, the sacred appointment which you received from Him, retain it with you; and then you will require no other teacher; but this, His consecration, will teach you about everything; and it is truthful, and not false: and as He has taught you, hold on to Him.
RF JO1 2:28 And now, little children, abide in Him; so that at His appearance we may enjoy perfect freedom, and not feel ashamed about Him in His presence.
RF JO1 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you will also recognize that every one who acts righteously is born of Him.
