   Work on the 'The Holy Bible in Modern English' began in 1853 by a London businessman named Ferrar Fenton (1832–1920). The complete Bible was first published in 1903, though some individual bible 'books' were published as separate volumes during the preceding 11 years.
   Fenton is well known for a rearranging of the books of the Bible into what the author believed was the correct chronological order. In the Old Testament, this order follows that of the Hebrew Bible. The name of God was translated throughout the Old Testament as "The Ever-Living".
   Fenton is an exciting translation that shows respect and gives clarity in many areas where other translations fall short. This Bible is described as being "translated into English direct from the original Hebrew, Chaldee, and Greek languages."

   Welcome to the new blog section. Join us in this exciting effort to display the works of Ferrar Fenton! The Holy Bible in Modern English is now fully digitized and can be seen for it's creative and artistic beauty as well as for the spiritual edification that we all need through the daily study of the scriptures.

   This project actually began in 2012 when the conversion of scanned images, using OCR software, revived a very beautiful but tangled digital version of Ferrar Fenton's work. The major part of the editing, including verse alignment, OCR errors and chapter breaks took over one year. Still, as we go there are minor fixes to punctuation and a few odd necessary edits.

   In its very raw form, 'The Holy Bible in Modern English' went online with a free but very undependable web hosting service in 2014, where it has been ever since.
   With thanks to the generosity of others, just recently, the site has been moved to its current home. This hosting service is by far superior to the previous but costs are high so we are maintaining an ad service to help offset the costs.

KJVP TI1 1:1

PaulG3972, an apostleG652 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547 by the commandmentG2003 of GodG2316 our SaviourG4990, and LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, whichG3588 is our hopeG1680;

KJVP TI1 1:2 Unto TimothyG5095, my ownG1103 sonG5043 in the faithG4102: GraceG5485, mercyG1656, and peaceG1515, from GodG2316 our FatherG3962 and JesusG2424 ChristG5547 our LordG2962.

KJVP TI1 1:3 As I besoughtG3870 thee to abideG4357 stillG4357 atG1722 EphesusG2181, when I wentG4198 intoG1519 MacedoniaG3109, that thou mightest chargeG3853 someG5100 that they teachG2085 noG3361 otherG2085 doctrine,

KJVP TI1 1:4 NeitherG3366 give heedG4337 to fablesG3454 and endlessG562 genealogiesG1076, whichG3748 ministerG3930 questionsG2214, ratherG3123 thanG2228 godlyG2316 edifyingG3618 whichG3588 is in faithG4102: so do.

KJVP TI1 1:5 NowG1161 the end.G5056 of the commandmentG3852 is charityG26 out of a pureG2513 heartG2588, and of a goodG18 conscienceG4893, and of faithG4102 unfeignedG505:

KJVP TI1 1:6 From whichG3739 someG5100 having swervedG795 have turnedG1624 asideG1624 unto vainG3150 janglingG3150;

KJVP TI1 1:7 DesiringG2309 to be teachersG3547 of the lawG3547; understandingG4920 neitherG3383 whatG3739 they sayG3004, norG3383 whereofG4012-G5101 they affirmG1226.

KJVP TI1 1:8 But we knowG1492 that the lawG3551 is goodG2570, ifG1437 a manG5100 useG5530 it lawfullyG3545;

KJVP TI1 1:9 KnowingG1492 thisG5124, that the lawG3551 is not madeG2749 for a righteousG1342 man, but for the lawlessG459 and disobedientG506, for the ungodlyG765 and for sinnersG268, for unholyG462 and profaneG952, for murderersG3964 of fathersG3964 and murderersG3389 of mothersG3389, for manslayersG409,

KJVP TI1 1:10 For whoremongersG4205, for them that defileG733 themselves with mankindG733, for menstealersG405, for liarsG5583, for perjuredG1965 personsG678, and ifG1487 there be anyG1536 otherG2087 thing that is contraryG480 to soundG5198 doctrineG1319;

KJVP TI1 1:11 AccordingG2596 to the gloriousG1391 gospelG2098 of the blessedG3107 GodG2316, whichG3739 was committedG4100 to my trustG4100.

KJVP TI1 1:12 And I thankG2192-G5485 ChristG5547 JesusG2424 our LordG2962, whoG3588 hath enabledG1743 me, for that he countedG2233 me faithfulG4103, puttingG5087 me intoG1519 the ministryG1248;

KJVP TI1 1:13 WhoG3588 was beforeG4386 a blasphemerG989, and a persecutorG1376, and injuriousG5197: but I obtainedG1653 mercyG1653, becauseG3754 I did it ignorantlyG50 in unbeliefG570.

KJVP TI1 1:14 And the graceG5485 of our LordG2962 was exceedingG5250 abundantG5250 with faithG4102 and loveG26 whichG3588 is in ChristG5547 JesusG2424.

KJVP TI1 1:15 ThisG3588 is a faithfulG4103 sayingG3056, and worthyG514 of allG3956 acceptationG594, that ChristG5547 JesusG2424 cameG2064 intoG1519 the worldG2889 to saveG4982 sinnersG268; of whomG3739 I amG1510 chiefG4413.

KJVP TI1 1:16 HowbeitG235 for thisG5124 causeG1223 I obtainedG1653 mercyG1653, that in me firstG4413 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 might showG1731 forthG1731 allG3956 longsufferingG3115, for a patternG5296 to them which shouldG3195 hereafterG3195 believeG4100 onG1909 him to lifeG2222 everlastingG166.

KJVP TI1 1:17 NowG1161 unto the KingG935 eternalG165, immortalG862, invisibleG517, the onlyG3441 wiseG4680 GodG2316, be honourG5092 and gloryG1391 for everG165 and everG165. AmenG281.

KJVP TI1 1:18 ThisG5026 chargeG3852 I commitG3908 unto thee, sonG5043 TimothyG5095, accordingG2596 to the propheciesG4394 which wentG4254 beforeG4254 onG1909 thee, that thou by them mightest warG4754 a goodG2570 warfareG4752;

KJVP TI1 1:19 HoldingG2192 faithG4102, and a goodG18 conscienceG4893; whichG3739 someG5100 having putG683 awayG683 concerningG4012 faithG4102 have madeG3489 shipwreckG3489:

KJVP TI1 1:20 Of whomG3739 is HymenaeusG5211 and AlexanderG223; whomG3739 I have deliveredG3860 unto SatanG4567, that they may learnG3811 not to blasphemeG987.
